Balloons, the bane of ufology: from Roswell to Hellfire missile footage

There are still many people who believe that the "Roswell Incident" involved the recovery of a crashed extraterrestrial spacecraft. They vociferously deny that it could have been a Project Mogul balloon (newsflash: it was). Similarly, the Westall school case in Australia was likewise also the result of a balloon, but adherents of the ET angle ascribe all kinds of amazing "facts" to the case that to their eyes obviate the possibility that it could have been anything other than the sighting of alien craft. Interestingly, in Curtis Peebles' "Watch the Skies!", a USAF study is described in which pilots were sent to zoom past balloons. Lo and behold, they looked like flying saucers. More recently, military footage of a Hellfire missile was shown at a Congressional hearing on UAP. The "UFO" is a balloon, possibly launched by the Houthis. The US used a Hellfire missile because it was probably the only ordnance available to hand in the vicinity during that particular engagement and they needed to destroy or at least disable the balloon in a contested area to prevent the Houthis from gathering intelligence. Hellfires are designed to take out ground targets like tanks, armored personnel carriers and command posts (indeed, the first time they were used in anger, to my knowledge, was during the opening hours of the 1991 Gulf War in an Apache gunship assault on Iraqi radar installations). A balloon would likely not have triggered its fuse, hence why the balloon continued on its course, albeit with fragments broken off. The missile was partially deflected but didn't explode, consistent with it absorbing some of the kinetic energy of the balloon. This footage should never have been declassified but is being bandied about by UAP happy Congresspeople eager to show how much they're all about "transparency." Hank Green has a good video on this where he breaks down the reasons it's almost certainly a balloon.
