MTG is still trash but at least she has some heart

Marjorie Taylore Greene's recent denunciations of Trump have drawn the typical infantile man-child backlash from the orange shit stain in the White House. She is reportedly getting death threats against herself and her family from members of the shit stain's brainwashed cult of dopey man children who want to turn America into a Russian swamp and a "Christian" nationalist dictatorship. Some in the GOP have warned that Greene could be a canary in the mine, portending further retirements from the party among Representatives who, for various reasons, have had enough and don't want to keep going along with whatever Sleepy Don tells them to do.

Of course, it's these invertebrates who facilitated Trump and gave him a pass nearly every single time. Now the monster they helped create is coming back to bite them. Kudos to Greene for speaking out on the Epstein files, the victims of Epstein, affordability, Israel, the divisive political climate in in the United States, and the deep misogyny and toxicity in the GOP. But it shouldn't be forgotten that she voted for the Big Bullshit Bill, she didn't issue a peep when Minnesota Democratic Representatives were murdered, she didn't vote to condemn Russia for mass child kidnapping, she attacked and lied about Dr. Fauci (arguably putting his own life in danger by leaning into COVID conspiracy theories that are the bread and butter of the MAGA base), and she has been one of the most divisive and toxic politicians for years, including in endless insults, lies and attacks. In a 60 Minutes interview, when the latter was pointed out to her, she tried to turn it back on the interviewer by implying that the interviewer was just as bad because she was "accusing" her of things. She also made the obligatory dig at the "far left" by denouncing Mamdani's visit to the White House and meeting with Trump. And she accused Trump of not being focused enough on domestic issues, supposedly betraying his "America First" stance. As Kyle Kulinski of Secular Talk pointed out, Trump has actually been mostly focused on domestic issues, and that's precisely why so many horrible things have happened to this country. MTG should not be mistaken as an ally of the center and the center-left, even if on certain issues some common ground can be found. She's still a nativist isolationist lunatic who wants to burn our alliances with democracies around the world; she still wants authoritarianism here at home; she's still anti science; she still wants to hand corporations all manner of goodies. But at least she has some heart, especially on the Epstein issue. Her advocacy for the victims has been highly commendable and her treatment by Trump on that matter especially should serve as a wakeup call, particularly for women in the GOP and Republican women in general.
